(A House That Has Aged Untimely)

***

My body is like a house that has aged early,
a house that has lost its youthfulness untimely.
Though twenty plus, it has let go its vitality.
It looks as if it has hit thirty, forty, fifty, sixty.

My body is like a house that has aged untimely,
a house that must be rebuilt entirely.
I shall be born again, I shall look my age.
I shall be rejuvenated, I shall swim in any deluge.

  1. I told you to stay away from that passion fruit! 😉

’tis true…your foundation may get a little creaky, your roof may get a bit thin, you emit noises in the night, you may have built some additions over the years…

But….your facade has more character, people respect your wisdom, people celebrate your history, many find your details charming, and no one wants to “ditch” you, because now, compared to the young, hip suburban types, you are worth more than gold!

    PS….I like your piece….;)

  2. amazing how much more line space you need to write in English compared to Amharic 🙂

don’t “age” untimely 🙂 wisdom comes with every year, every week, every single second you live and experience …do age … but keep the vitality 😛
